![]() Right now my character has a 106.6 Energy cost per second EoR with 78.2 energy regeneration (and viper devotion) and that is enough for me to barely ever need to pop a elixir of spirit. Skills like Presence of Virtue help too (it's giving me 7 energy per second alone) - if most of your equipment also gives you a bit of extra energy and you have a bit of spirit, you can sustain it. You improve your damage a lot with extra attack speed, but it also increases the skill cost, meaning you need to go heavy on the energy. ![]() This is doubly important once you understand that the skill has a crazy great scaling with attack speed/total speed. ![]() Plus, safeguard skill only works if you use a shield and it adds physical and fire damage plus flat armor, that is pretty good now too.ĮoR is like building a light aether ray build - you need to try and get a lot of energy regeneration. I don't know if I'm right or not, but it seems like you use the shield just like a second weapon for the EoR skill (it's even on the tooltip as a off-hand damage) and there are some seriously great shields for supporting fire based builds/EoR. IMHO EoR works best with 2 handed, then, with sword and shield, then dual wield, and, lastly, off hand caster. I've made a paladin (OK+inquisitor) EoR and I'm having a blast, I'm lvl 70 now thou. Demolitionist offers good Fire resist reduction and fire damage buffs, so maybe going for fire damage devotions and phys->fire conversion would work. You may want to pick only one or two of those to focus on scaling, perhaps with some damage conversion. You may have better luck by switching to a 2-handed weapon for more damage and looking for other defenses such as life leech, armor, defensive ability, and so on instead of relying on shield blocks.ĮoR also suffers from having three damage types - phys, fire, and lightning. There's even an endgame legendary set, "the cyclone", that does EoR with a 1-hander and a caster off-hand. It also works with dual wield or a 2-handed weapon. That means most good shield builds include Soldier for Shield Training and Overguard, or are using a legendary shield for its other stats, not for blocking.ĮoR does not have to be sword-and-board. One important thing to know is that shields are nearly worthless without support from skills, gear, and devotions to improve block chance, recovery, and blocked damage amount.
